Thanks for the comment.  As I noted, I too will continue to use them in my internet marketing planning, however - I find that many folks place way too much emphasis on the weight they carry in search rank.  They are just one small piece of the puzzle.  That article from Matt Cutts just confirmed what we already knew.

I have read your recent posting on the Google site re no-use of meta tags. I too am of the opinion that they matter. At least a bit. I don&#039;t understand why this is such a hype when it is not. Your posting stood out from the crowd  so I wrote. 

I also find it a bit inconsistent in reference to google web design guideline.
